Social Commitment

This year the team of Larrauri & Marti Abogados and Contagesha has actively collaborated with the LIBERA Project, through the initiative "1m2 against litter".

On 2 June, the Larrauri & Marti team went out to one of the natural areas of our community, the natural environment of the Valmayor reservoir, to collect all the waste that should not be there.

Our aim is, on the one hand, to raise awareness among our team about the impact of rubbish in our natural environment so that they start to adopt new habits in their daily lives that will reverse this situation and, on the other hand, to free this natural space of waste that is harmful to it.

The activity is part of the "1m2 against litter" initiative organised by the LIBERA Project, united against litter.

This project has been created by the environmental NGO SEO/BirdLife, in alliance with Ecoembes, to free nature from litter. The aim of this initiative is to raise awareness and mobilise citizens to keep natural spaces free of rubbish. To this end, LIBERA proposes a three-dimensional approach to the problem:

- Knowledge: One of the main objectives of LIBERA is to improve and expand existing knowledge on the abandonment of waste in nature and its impact on the environment. In this way, thanks to the studies carried out by LIBERA and the different alliances that the project has established with scientific, educational and informative organisations, they have been able to generate a knowledge base on the incidence, origin, quantity, composition and behaviour of litter in different environments.

- Prevention: Knowledge is useless if citizens do not understand the value of keeping natural environments clean. Therefore, with this axis, the LIBERA Project seeks to change habits, inform and educate in the care and respect for nature, which it achieves through awareness-raising through campaigns, events, exhibitions and conferences, education and training.

- Participation: Citizen mobilisation is one of the keys to ending the problem of litter. If there is one way to raise awareness, it is through participation, encouraging people to go out into the countryside and clean up what no one should have littered in the first place: to free nature from litter. The '1m2 against litter' initiative demonstrates that going out into the countryside one day together to collect litter (i.e. the sum of all our clean square metres) has a very positive impact on our environment, helping to change our perspective on this problem.
